"I saw the horde. They charged with feral ferocity; a rolling tempest of ebony and fire. I woefully donned my helm and readied my blade, lamenting on the inevitable slaughter of my kin."

The skathes; Demons, savages, unholy beings of unfathomable horrors. An erratic and parasitic force rooted in the dark energies of the planet.  Their primal ferocity makes them a formidable and unpredictable threat.

The struggle against these ancient beings is not only a battle for survival but a confrontation with the very essence of darkness that has haunted the planet since time immemorial.

Propagating in hordes, they assault major cities and towns with lightning speed, their tendrils striking with deadly precision as they pierce through anything in their path.  Hundreds to thousands of skathes attack; their white beady eyes piercing against the rolling darkness of the horde.

Their purpose? Eradicate all sentient life.

Waiting and breeding underground, the hive queen

Skathe warring units are diverse, each fulfilling a purpose in the hive’s strategy.

The main unit—creatures that move on all fours with erratic, lashing tendrils—forms the vanguard of the horde, striking down anything in their path with savage, unpredictable precision.

Then there are draggers. Retrievers of wounded or unsuspecting warriors, dragging them back to the Hive Queen to nourish her brood.

The silencers, acting as suppressors, these units dampen the effects of magic and Astros technology, rendering their enemies vulnerable until eliminated.

And then, there are the monstrosities. The behemoths.  Creatures that take many moons to gestate. These colossal Skathes serve as devastating war engines, bolstering the swarm’s destructive power when unleashed.

Even the more powerful yet vulnerable toxic variant, the Slaghes—a pyrrhic byproduct of the Devian Plague—serve alongside their Skathe brethren, adding their own form of devastation to the swarm.

The Skathes, while savage, are far from mindless. They possess a dark intelligence, constantly adapting and evolving to counter the threats they face. Their adaptability ensures they are not constrained by their unit types, allowing them to mold and refine their forces for any conflict.

But the Skathes do not fight endlessly. Upon defeat, when their numbers are diminished, they retreat to their dark domains. There, they lie in dormancy while the Hive Queen breeds new horrors to replace the fallen. For a time, peace returns. Fragile. Temporary. Life almost feels normal. Until months later, the Skathe resurge.

No land, no race, no corner of the world is spared from the Skathe onslaught. Their attacks are further bolstered by the unholy alliance of Andren and Nethran, a coalition known only as “The Malevolent.” Together, they bring devastation and despair, leaving nothing but ruin in their wake.
